The short version: your matter stays in the request and your browser. brief help does not save it.
What is processed
When you request a summary, the text you enter is sent to the brief help Cloudflare Worker and may be processed by Cloudflare Workers AI to detect its language, translate it into English when needed and organise a neutral summary. On staging, the same request may identify up to two optional details that could help explain the problem. If you answer, the added details are used to update the summary once. A voice recording is sent only when you use voice input. It may be transcribed in its original language and translated into English. A document or photo is sent only when you upload it and is converted to text for the current request. The text, optional answers, suggested classifications, uploaded file, recording, transcript and translation are not written to storage.
What is not stored
brief help does not write your narrative, recording, transcript, generated summary, postcode or accessibility choices to D1 or another application database. It does not ask for your name or email.
What is stored
Separate D1 databases contain the triage service list and the public national directory: service names, coverage, topics, eligibility, contact channels, source links and review dates. Operational logs may contain request timing, status codes and error classes, but application code does not log request bodies.
Provider applications
Provider applications contain professional identity, professional email, public profile, coverage, free-service scope and access information. They never contain a user’s account of what happened. Email must be verified and an operator must approve a listing before it becomes public. Abandoned and rejected applications are removed after 90 days.
Contacting a service
brief help searches public service information without sending your story or summary to a lawyer or legal service. If you choose an email or intake-form action, brief help first shows a consent check explaining exactly what will happen. It can then prepare a draft in your email application, or copy your summary and open the service’s form. Nothing is sent or submitted automatically. You must review the information and choose Send or Submit yourself. brief help does not store the message.
Security checks
Cloudflare Turnstile may process technical information needed to distinguish legitimate requests from automated abuse. Rate limiting uses a random browser-session key rather than the matter text.
Before public launch
The operating entity and a working privacy contact must be published here before the service is promoted for public use.
